Mason

Nationality: British

Mason's Ironstone China inherited it's name from Miles Mason, who in 1795 started a business partnership with George Wolfe, an earthenware manufacturer in Fenton, Staffordshire, and Thomas Wolfe and John Lucock in Liverpool to manufacture Chinese style tableware. While the partnership dissolved in 1804, Miles Mason continued to produce Chinese influenced blue and white transferware. In 1813 he retired and the company changed hands and names several times but continued to sell Oriental styled patterns on Mason's influenced ware. In 1968 the company was renamed Mason's Ironstone China Ltd. In more recent years it was purchased by the Wedgwood Group.
