Reeman Dansie are delighted to be holding a special sale of toys collected by Barry Butcher during his lifetime.

Barry possessed an enduring lifelong fascination for toys which begun as a child, when he would diligently return each item to its original box after he had played with it. He had a deep affection for farm toys, action figures and all things military and loved delving into their historical origins including the packaging and artwork.

Barry’s collection begun in the 1970’s and many of the lots are from that period and include domestic brands such as Britain’s, Timpo, Airfix, Dinky, Corgi & Matchbox as well as some other well known names like Mega Corps (Palitoy & Kenner), Crescent, Lone Star, Atlantic and Modelman, so there is an array of toys to suit many tastes.

Barry demonstrated his expertise as a skilled model worker, culminating in the development of his own line of diecast military figures, Empire Models, which he sold to collectors worldwide.

Barry’s ultimate aspiration was to establish a toy museum. A place where he could share his deep passion for toys. Sadly, he did not realise his dream, but would have taken great pleasure in knowing that his collection was being passed onto like-minded individuals who had the same passion for toys.
